Amy Jane Benenate

Amy is a lifelong student of movement and has fourteen years of experience teaching Pilates to others. She realized that dance was a lifetime passion when she attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. In 1997 she graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a B.F.A. in Modern Dance. She danced and choreographed with Group Motion, Manfred Fischbeck and Brigitta Herrmann in Philadelphia, and has toured worldwide with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre’s second company Ailey II.

In 2007 Amy moved from NYC to Austin and began training in Pilates with Master Instructor Nancy Gwinnell Hurd. Amy became a Comprehensive Certified Pilates Instructor in 2009 and started teaching at Austin Pilates Barn. She continued her education through the 18 month Discover*Move*Inspire* post comprehensive teacher program in 2013-2014. At the end of the D*M*I* program in June 2014 Amy studied with Lolita San Miguel at a two- day workshop in Florida.

Amy enjoys working with a variety of clients and has taught clients with special focuses on osteoporosis, scoliosis, pregnancy, seniors, equestrians, athletes, and dancers. Pilates has improved her technique as a dancer and has revealed itself in her everyday life.  She loves to share Pilates with others so that they too can benefit from the healing effects of Pilates.
